My interest in fitness and nutrition began as a young motocross racer, after reading a magazine article on nutrition for performance. During my years of high school wrestling and track, the lack of letters from recruiters led me to the realization that D-1 collegiate sports were beyond reach, so I redirected my focus to improving the performance and lives of others. I graduated from Cal Poly with a dual degree in Nutrition and Kinesiology, completed my dietetic internship at the University of Houston, and earned my Masters Degree in Kinesiology at SDSU. I have been “stuck” in San Diego ever since.
As a USAT-Certified coach and registered sports dietitian, I apply the principles of applied functional science (AFS) and periodization to all my running and multisport programs. My background in athletic, recreational and clinical settings has given me the ability to effectively work with a diverse population of athletes (from the youth to professional level). I have also been fortunate enough to work as the director of coaching for the Race to Stop MS program (a charity training program for marathons and triathlons) since its inception, which has now evolved to the MSRockstars Program. I do my best to practice what I preach and, thus, have completed multiple marathons, duathlons, sprint tris and finished my first half Ironman in 2010.
My dream of becoming a rock star faded some time ago, so I now aspire to share my passion for sport and fitness through training and educating athletes as a strength coach and dietitian.
